Healthy Artery Program

Pre-Empting Cardiovascular Events

A little more than half of all men and 40 percent of women in the U.S. will develop cardiovascular disease during their lives. To better identify those individuals who are at risk and help reverse these statistics, the Center for Vascular Health at St. Vincent Charity Hospital has launched a new screening program – the Healthy Artery Program

The Healthy Artery Program is a free service to assess patients’ artery health and identify those with occult vascular disease who have not yet been diagnosed. People at higher risk include diabetics, adults who have had previous cardiac disease and people who are age 50 or older with at least one risk factor for heart disease (such as smoking, high blood pressure, high cholesterol or being overweight).

By assessing artery health through a non-invasive Ankle Brachial Index test, the Healthy Artery Program team determines each participant’s risk for developing artery disease, and works with the individual and his or her physician to pre-empt a cardiovascular event.

Free Screenings! Find out the health of your arteries by participating in a free screening. The test is quick and painless, but it could save your life. To schedule or learn more, call 216.363.2732.
